The "daily calendar application yottey" which supports schedule management for people with dementia will be on display at the Nagoya Welfare Tool Plaza from November.

One of the first symptoms of dementia is time misrecognition, which is the loss of days and dates. This can lead to problems such as taking out the rubbish on the wrong day or morning or night, or not being able to get to appointments at the hospital. The family is also burdened by the anxiety of repeatedly asking about times and appointments. The daily calendar application "yottey" has been developed as an IT-based approach to support those who are anxious at such times. This project was jointly developed by SoftDevice Inc. and a student from the National Rehabilitation Centre for Persons with Disabilities, Dr Hiroko Suura, who has conducted research on electronic calendars for the elderly with cognitive impairment at the National Institute for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities and is currently conducting research at Nagoya University. （The project was adopted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW). Over the last year, we have developed an application and conducted a monitoring evaluation for people with MCI or mild dementia and their families. The app has been available for download from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Amazon App Store since July. （The app is currently available free of charge for a limited time.)
