Calender-Software for Dementia Patients
Mobile Application Development
Since 2011, softdevice has been cooperating with the National Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities in the development of software for their "Electronic Calendar  showing the date and schedule automatically for People with Dementia" research. This electronic calendar is designed for people with MCI or early-stage dementia who are showing symptoms of time disorientation. It has a time display function that makes it easy to tell whether it is day or night, and a function that displays and notifies the user of the day's schedule based on the schedule input by a remote support person. The user can check the time and schedule by himself/herself, which is expected to increase the number of things he/she can do by him/herself and reduce the burden on caregivers. In the aforementioned study, the effectiveness of the use of electronic calendars was confirmed and the research period was successfully completed in 2019. Currently, softdevice is leading the development of the electronic calendar with the aim of releasing it as a smartphone app.
