Softdevice identified a number of issues caused by an acute shortage of trained staff and a diversification of operators by holding interviews and questionnaires with all participating stakeholders. We examined the information structure of the existing screens and the interaction with the operating staff members. We proposed an altered operation screen design based on following usability targets: "The status should be understood at a glance and stored settings can be saved and retrieved”and"Smart assistance should allow the operator to calibrate the machine using a small number of attempts, reducing time and material waste”
